About Springer Spaniel

Springer Spaniel belongs to the breed of dogs that were conventionally used for flushing and retrieving game. It is from one of the spaniel breeds. An intelligent dog that it is, Spaniel is always enthusiastic and eager to please people. Springer Spaniel is energetic, cheerful happy and playful in all its activities. It is built with strong a leg that enables it to move faster than the other spaniel dogs.

Physical Appearance of Springer Spaniel

Springer Spaniel has a weight of around 45 to 55 pounds and the height of 19 to 21 inches. It has the variations according to working and show lines of any breed of dog. A field breeds dog and show breeds dog appears to be of different breeds. However, it is known and registered in one form of breed only.

Field bred dog tends to have shorter, coarser coats and shows bred dog have longer coats compared with the field bred. Springer Spaniel is seen to shed less in summer and spring months, but its shedding increases in the month of autumn. The coat of this Springer dog is seen in three different colors: black and white, liver and white and the tan.

Characteristics / Behavior of Springer Spaniel

Springer Spaniels can be easily incorporated with the family settings. They are very affectionate and easy going family dogs. Predictably loving nature is seen in them when they are with the children. They are seen to be good with other pets, but not with the birds.
