About Silky Terrier

Silky Terriers originate from the Australian breed of dog. They are classified from the toy group of the dogs in their country and in some other countries. They are seen to develop the gentle virtues of a small house pet and the probing character and hunting skills of a terrier.

Physical Appearance of Silky Terrier

The Silky Terrier is a true toy terrier. Their coat is silky in texture, which represents a well grooming effect, but not a sculptured appearance. Silky Terriers carry the shoulder height of nine to ten inches and they weigh around 8 to 11 ponds. Their wedge-shaped head are somewhat long and embedded with expressive eyes that are usually dark with almond shaped. Along with these, they have a nose that is dark and teeth with sharp bites. Their neck is of medium size, with fine appearance.

Silky terrier appears with well muscled thighs, which does not give their body a heavy look. Body hair of these silky terriers is parted on the head and down over the back to the root of the tail. Although their tails of these terriers are well coated, they are devoid of curl. These dogs are generally seen in two colors: first one is blue with different shades like silver blue, pigeon blue, slate blue and second one is tan color that again comes in shades of deep or rich.
