The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is one of the breed from the Welsh Corgi family. It was originally kept for guarding sheep, cattle and horses. This small dog has outshone itself in sheep dog trails and competitions involving agility of pet dogs.

Physical Features of Pembroke Welsh Corgi Dogs

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a longish dog with lengthy body, big erect ears, a flat skull-line and a foxy head. The little tail is almost invisible. Their eyes are darkish in color with a black nose to match. The smooth shiny coats come in all types of fascinating colors like fiery red, fawn, tan, sable, brown and black. Pembroke has short straight legs and they are lighter in weight compared to Cardigans. The Pembroke dogs are 10 to 12 inches in height, the bitches are also of the same height like their male counterparts. The male dogs weigh about 25 to 30 pounds, whereas the female bitches may weigh a pound or two less.

Pembroke Corgis are excellent choice as pet companions. They adjust themselves in small apartments, but need to be taken on long walks as an exercise. Some are extremely extrovert, eager and excitable. They are natural barking dogs. Male Pembroke dogs show aggressive behavior when they want to show off to their mates.
