Miki breed of dogs are known for their intelligence and for their socializing nature. They seem to carry the mannerisms of cats.

About the Breed

The Miki is a new breed that was started in the late 1980's by Maureen Westberg. They are an intentionally-bred mixed breed dog. They are not a breed and hence, lack a breed standard. They appear like a toy dog, but they behave similarly like other breeds of dogs. The Miki are a diminutive, friendly and alert toy dog, full of lively action.

Physical Appearance

They are naturally built up with the height of 10-11 inches and weight around 5 kg. Solid built and compact refined body allows them to carry their head high, although their tail is a little curved over the back.

They come in long coat and smooth coat varieties which have a flowing single coat with feathering the legs, ears and tail. Their expressive eyes are dark and large. Their chest is of medium depth. Medium sized nose which goes flat on top with wide nostrils is the most prominent feature of their face. Their appearance provides them an air of elegance, grace with long silky non-shedding hair. This dog breed seem to appear in utmost colors, including the dilute colors and rarely in solid form of colors.

Characteristics of Miki

Miki is known for their intelligence, calmness and for their sweet behavior. According to the studies, it has been noticed that their activity level is low to moderate. They give the impression of good companions, especially with the handicapped. Good at a watch dog business, Mikis are quite alert and alarming. Also known as top breed of dogs, Mikis have become famous because of their intelligence and for their obedience. Friendliness and affection with the family members makes them highly compatible. They carry great temperament which makes them therapy dogs. They always love the company of human beings and love to be surrounded by them. Quick in learning the tricks, Miki dogs are found to be playful with the kids and with other dogs. They also love to nuzzle.

Miki are an adaptable breed of dogs and are seen to be adopted by many people, who don't adopt the dogs for some or other reason.
