About Keeshond
Keeshond dog breed was mainly a barge dog that served on abundant yachts on Rhine River. They belong to the same group that produced the Samoyed, the Chow Chow, the Norwegian Elkhound, the Finnish Spitz and the Pomeranian. This breed was a symbol of the patriots led by Kees de Gyselaer, who possessed a dog named Kees. The
Keeshond breed name was named after Kees. This breed was depicted in countless pictures and cartoons that were related to Dutch political strife. They are also from the Non-Sporting Group of AKC classifications.
Physical Appearance
The Keeshond is a natural handsome dog. They are well-balanced with striking attractions. They are medium-sized, square appearing with sturdiness, neither loutish nor lightly made. They have a richly plumed tail, which is well curled from the end. Their expressions are like fox. Their coat is very thick around the neck, forepart of the shoulders and chest, which forms a lion like-ruff- more profuse in the male, rump and hind legs, down to the hocks also thickly, coated forming characteristics trousers. Their head, ears and lower legs are covered with thick and short hair.
The height for the male dogs is seen to be around 18 inches and that of female dogs is one inch lesser than the height of male
dogs. Their eyes are dark and in almond shape and ears are short and of triangular shape. Mixture of different shades like, gray, cream and black, dominate the skin of these dogs. Again, these shades can vary in the lighter and darker shades.
