
Great dane is a working dog breed developed in Germany which was used for hunting. This dog is known as the Apollo of all dogs. The dogs were crossed with Irish Greyhounds, and the result was the beautiful, large, thin, agile dog known today as the great dane. The name
great dane was derived from the French names, called Grand Danois. This dog breed has existed in Britain for centuries and it is said to be come from the Molosus hounds. Great Dane's are used for tracking, watchdog and carting and it is the large hunting dog of the Danír tribe. It is the king of all dogs. This
breed is about 400 years old. The Great Dane is typically a swift, alert dog noted for courage, friendliness, and dependability. It was used as a bodyguard, companion, and wild boar hunter and also used as a part in bull-baiting. The training for this breed is difficult and these
dogs are courageous.

Great Dane is a giant
dog with elegance, power and nobility with robustness. Its front legs are straight and its neck is long and muscular. Its tail is in medium-length and teeth are with a scissors bite. Its eyes are round and dark with an intelligent expression and its ears are cropped or pointed. Head is rectangular and long.
All the Danes have thick, short, close fitting hair, shiny.
Great danes has a short dense coat. Its coat color may be brindle, fawn, blue, black, merle and mantle harlequin. Great Dane dogs are spirited, courageous, never timid, always friendly and dependable. This
breed dog is having larger frame and heavier bone than the bitch.

A healthy
Great dane lives for about 7-10 years. Some may live upto 13 years.
Great Dane is a dignified, gentle giant, sweet, kind, and affectionate. It is patient and playful with children. It should be trained when it was young, so it will be manageable when fully grown.
Great dane is suited for apartment life if it is exercised regularly. It requires atleast long daily walk. It is not a long live
breed and adjust to both city and country living. It needs a lot of space.
Great dane as a pet
Great dane is excellent with other
pets and children. Supervision is required around small children as it may step on them or knock them over. It can be used as a good
watchdog as it has a very deep bark. It likes to be with people. If it is raised with other pets from the early stages it will be good with them. It tends to lean on its favourite people so it should be trained not to lean on children.
