Goldendoodles are not purebred dogs. They are an interesting cross between Golden Retriever and Poodle. This hybrid dog is a first generation cross with lots of hybrid vigor on display. They are a healthy bred with most of them being 50% purebred to 50% purebred.

About the Goldendoodle Breed

These designer hybrid dogs are a lovely mixture of Golden Retrievers and Poodles. The first Goldendoodles were purposely bred in Northern America during 1990s. Being mixed dog breed, they are healthier than purebreds. They do make great companion pets for large or small families; even allergic families can tolerate Goldendoodle due to their non shedding nature.

Physical Features of Goldendoodle Dogs

Every Goldendoodle is unique from the other, with a different shade of coat to his favor. Breeders say there is no guarantee that all goldendoodles are necessarily hypoallergenic. It is best for allergic people to get Goldendoodles with curlier coats. Straight coated Goldendoodles are known to shed more. The coat type could be found out when these mixed breed dogs are just 6 to 7 weeks old. Standard goldendoodles are generally of medium to large in size, while mini Goldendoodles are small to medium in size. These hybrids come in varying colors, from fiery red, black, silver, blue, chocolate, white to blonde, apricot or golden.

Goldendoodles as Pet Dogs

Goldendoodles are taken as pets by allergic families, but even non-allergic people love to have these intelligent and loving animals as family pet. Goldendoodles dog love to mingle with humans and make others laugh. These hybrids are exceptionally witty as their parents-Golden Retriever and Poodle are counted among smartest dogs in the whole world.

Behavioral Pattern of Goldendoodles

Goldendoodles are smart family dogs. They are affectionate breed of dogs. They are normally loving and gentle with everyone. As a part of a family, they are very loyal towards the members. They tolerate all kinds of people, animals and children. They need to be cared and loved. And would sulk a great deal if left alone or separated from the family. They just adore human companionship, and if properly trained would make great pets. They have a jovial character, and could make you laugh with their clown-like antics. They might bark occasionally at strangers, they do not make it a habit.

Specific Goldendoodle Traits

They are known to be very clever and goofy in nature. These hybrids are very adjusting; they would play when you play with it or quietly relax with you by lying nearby. You could take them anywhere and everywhere, whatever the situation-they never throw doggy tantrums. Well, if you are a fun loving character, this funny hybrid breed is just for you!
