The Golden Retriever was first originated in British Isles, crosses between light-coated Tweed Water Spaniels breed, a yellow Flat-Coated Retriever, other spaniels, setters and even the Bloodhound and possibly the Newfoundland. The Golden retriever dog was first shown with a Golden Flat-Coat, which is one of the world's foremost family companion dogs. Almost the top obedience competition dogs are Golden retrievers in the country.

The Golden Retriever dog is also a fine on both land and in the water. They have an excellent nose and has been used not only for tracking and hunting, but also for narcotics detection. The Golden retriever was recognized by CKC, AKC, FCI, KCGB, UKC, CKC, NKC, ANKC, and APRI, ACR.



The Golden Retriever is a sturdy, beautiful, well-proportioned dog with a feathered, medium-length and having cream to golden-colored coat. The outer coat is waterproof and the undercoat is dense. The head of dog breed is broad, with a tapering, but wide, powerful muzzle. The teeth of this dog has a scissors bite and a clear frontal stop. The nose is black in color.

The eyes are intelligent in expression, medium in size, close-fitting rims, dark, set well apart and reasonably deep in sockets with dark rims. Color of the eyes is preferably dark brown or medium brown acceptable. Narrow eyes and slant, triangular eyes detract from correct expression which are to be faulted. The ears are pendant and medium sized. Golden Retriever dog thighs are muscular and have broad chest with a long tail, but never curled.

Cream, light to dark shades of gold, wheat.

The male Golden Retriever height is 23-24 inches and the female Golden Retriever height is 21.5-22.5 inches.

Golden Retriever dog weight is 65-75 lbs and the Golden Retriever bitch weight is55-65 lbs.

A healthy Golden Retriever dog lives approximately 13-15 years.



The Golden Retriever is a large, energetic and gorgeous breed. They are sturdy, perceptive, agile and well proportioned dog. golden retrievers are well known for their hunting capabilities on land and also in the water. They do not feel well if left alone for along periods of time and become destructive and mischievous. The tendency of barking is as a form of greeting. These dogs are good with apartment or city life and active indoors but they do well with medium or large sized yard. This dog is an average shedder.
