Dog Equipment

The purpose of using equipments such as dog training collars and dog leashes is to train dogs so that they understand how they have to walk with their master. The master holds the leash which is attached to the training collars that is then tied around the dog’s neck. The master can vary the pressure on the leash, which in turn regulates the amount of pressure that is put on the training collars, and thus on dog’s neck. Thus, whenever the dog starts to move to a place that is out of way, his behavior can be regulated by pulling on the leash. He would immediately be reminded that he is going wrong.

It needs to be understood here that all dogs differ in their temperament patterns. Not only is it different amongst different dog breeds, but also differs with every dog. Some may not even react when the training collar is put around their neck, and others may react violently. Thus it should be first understood how your dog’s personality like. Some are easy, and some are difficult. Thus the approach to train them would vary accordingly.

It is also important to understand what to look for when buying the training collar and leash for your dog equipment. Always look for a good quality leash that is durable enough and fits in nicely with the training collar. You can get yourself in an embarrassing situation if the leash is not strong enough and the dog is able to break it off and run away!

Ideally, the training collar of the dog euipment should measure around two inches more than the neck of the dog. The training collars are available in sizes that are even, so chose accordingly. Make sure that the collar does not fit in too tight on the dog’s neck; otherwise he would get too cumbersome to be handled properly.

Controlling the pressure on the leash is an art in itself. It requires a certain amount of expertise. If you are not sure of yourself whether you are apt at regulating it, then do not hesitate to take an expert advice from a professional dog trainer, or from those who manage pet centers in your locality. Once the dog breed has understood that he cannot go in other direction after being pulled back, it is important to immediately relieve the pressure on the training collars. Otherwise the dog can get agitated and start resisting the control by his master.

A properly trained dog breed walks on your side, not too ahead, and not too behind. It should be understood that it comes naturally to him to chart out his own way and explore things that draws his attention. Thus patience and consistence are the key points here. He should be consistently reminded of what is expected out of him if he commits a mistake. He should know who the master is. He would also understand and adapt his behavior if handled courteously. Thus understand your dog, be stern but polite in your commands, and it would not be too hard to train him to walk on the leash.
