
Collie is a herding dog breed originated from Scotland.
Collie is one of the most beautiful breeds because of its elegant appearance. These are used as water rescue dogs and helped man as sheepdogs for centuries. The
breeds name comes from its charge, the Scottish black- faced sheep called Colley.
This breed dogs are so intelligent that they are trained for many purposes such as guide for blind, movie star and as a guard dog. In 1915 James Reid, secretary of the International sheep dog society in the United Kingdom first used the term Border Collie. Queen Victoria kept Collies at Balmoral in Scotland and this raised the popularity for this breed. In
Collies there are two types named smooth collie and rough collie. Smooth collie is same as rough collie but without the long coat.

Collies are medium sized dogs with moderate amount of coat. Its face is chiseled and head is lean, blunted and wedge shaped. Eyes are dark with almond shaped and ears are ¾ erect with tips folding forward. The tail is moderately long and its neck is clean and firm. When the dog is quiet the tail is carried low and in exited condition it is carried gaily.
Smooth
Collie consists of one inch coat and rough collie consists double coat. The outer coat is straight and harsh to touch. The forelegs are smooth and well feathered and hind legs are smooth below the hock joints. Collie can be judged properly by its expressions. This
breed dogs are good with children and other pets also. It is a very good family pet and a home with fenced yard is best.
Collie presents a picture of true balance, each part in proportion to other parts.

A dog standard height varies from 24-26 inches while a bitch's height varies from 22-24 inches.

Dogs vary between 60-75 while bitchs vary between 50-65 lbs.
