Catahoula leopard dog was originated in central Louisiana around the region of the
Catahoula lake which is the official dog for Louisiana. It is one of the top rated working dog breed in Louisiana. On earlier stages the owners of Catahoula leopard dog said that it is impossible to describe the this dog. Based on their behavior and sixth sence these dogs were called as “Catdogs”.
The excellent ability of Catahoula leopard dog is to climbing trees. The talents of Catahoula leopard

The Catahoula leopard is a medium or medium-large sized versatile dog. The coat is medium and short with feathered hair. Eyes of
Catahoula leopard dog appears in two color like blue and brown. Blue eyes are also called as glass eyes. The ears are attached just below the top of the head and edge of the ear falls on the cheek, short and triangular in shape.
The feet is in moderate length and strong. The
dog chest is deep and broad with well muscled, straight back. The tail is narrow and concentrate to the tip-end and appeared as a “fishhook curve”. The rear is croup above the hind legs and with straight hocks turning in or out.
Available colors are Solid colors such as Blue, yellow, black, brindle, red, black with tan trim and blue with tan trim.

The Catahoula leopard dog is energetic, independent, protective, and territorial. They are quick learners and needs a lot of mental and physical simulation in order to keep happy. While doing their job they are very enthusiastic. Minimum one hour running is compulsory as an exercise. It does not have aggressive nature but assertive.

Catahoula leopard dogs are compatible with cold weather compare to heat weather. The health conditions are poor compare to all means some eye problems will be occurred.
