
Boerboel is originated in South Africa in 17th century. They have a long history of breeding in different areas of South Africa. Various big dogs from Africa as well as Mastiff type dogs from Europe contributed for the development of breed. The characteristics of
Boerboel's is almost similar to the Assyrian of the period upto 700 BC. It is the own breed of South Africa.
The most important characteristic of
Boerboel is that it seems very disinterest in people but have the ability to react when their master want him. They are very sharper while pick up an approaching danger to the master like buffalo and leopard which can react quickly and violently to kill or distract the danger.
Dog breed is exported to, and bred in the Europe, USA, Russia, Scandinavia, Asia, Australia and other African countries.

The Boerboel is a substantial, well balanced and strong in appearance, with a primitive robustness and an overall solid tight musculature. The
dog jaws is very strong which are used to pop the ball while playing in the game. Boerboel dog head is deep, square, broad and muscular with filled cheeks.
The hair is smooth,short and dense. The tail is normally docked and short.
Boerboel ears are in V-shaped with medium size which are proportion to the head. Noticeably the mail dogs appear masculine and bitches like feminine.

Brown, brindle, red-brown, fawn and yellow, red.

For males 25-28 inches and for female dogs 23-25.5 inches.

The weight of Boerboel varies 154-200 pounds.

Boerboels are intelligent, reliable and obedient with strong guard-dog and watch dog instincts. It is fearless and self assured. This breed is large in all Mastiff type dogs. Naturally Boerboel is a very healthy
breed compare to all breeds. The Boerboel is not suitable for indoor or apartment life but highly suitable for outdoor environment with a large, fenced yard to run play. They loves to play and greatly enjoy walks and going crazy with excitement when they see a leash.

Boerboels can be very aggressive while passing the people in street and very protective for family, friends and property with their life. Boerboel are compatible with other
family pets like dogs, cats and other non-canine pets like birds came down to snatch from their food bowl.
