After the II World War many other Alaskan breeds had almost disappeared in Alaska. Alaskan husky are very popular al over the world. In the mid 70's Linda Spurlin saw this little dog which is like Husky. He thought it as aperfect apartment dog which is named as Alaska Husky. In 1988 the spurlins selected some dogs which had higher appearance and soundness.

The breeding of the Alaskan Husky is planned breedings and are technically pedigreed, however they are not consider pure and are not registered by the AKC or CKC because they are sometimes crossed with other Northern and non-Northern breeds to produce the best working dogs possible.



Alaskan Huskies are usually littlebit larger than Siberian Huskies. The eyes are brown in color. These dogs prefer cool climates because of their heavy coats. One has to use common sense with respect to maintaining them in the heat by providing adequate shade and air conditioning. This dog breed prefers to live in packs.These dogs are used as working dogs and sledding in the snow. In hot environment they are difficult to manage.

Blue or any other combination with shades like black, white, red.

The height varies from 28 to 30 inches for both dogs and bitches.

The Alaskan Husky dog weight is 60 lbs.

A healthy dog lives 12 to 15 years.



Alaskan Huskies are primarily used as working dogs. They survives in sled racing when compare to the Siberian Huskies do. They are playful and gentle, but mischievous and willful. Generally they have a lot of energy, especially for puppies. Good with children and friendly with strangers, they are not watchdogs, for they bark little and love everyone.

Huskies are very trainable and intelligent, but they minds of their own and also they will only obey a command if they see any point. These dogs may be difficult to housebreak. This breed gets bored easily because they likes howling. In the diet fish is essential for these dogs.

Alaskan Huskies are cheerful dogs which is very fond of his or her family. In the puppy stage at heart, they are sociable, clever, lovable, docile and easy-going. As a family pet the Alaskan Huskie is good with children and ver friendly with strangers. Training of these dogs takes with more patience, consistency and understanding. If the weather is cool these dogs become a good jogging companion.
